We are Chilifur Chihuahuas and Papillons, breeders in the Northern California / Monterey Bay Area and are devoted to our dogs. We are co-founders of the Silicon Valley Chihuahua Fanatics, an email list of local Chihuahua owners who enjoy getting together now and again. All of our dogs are registered with the AKC, regardless of quality status. Please visit the
Resources sections for each breed for links and information on these organizations, other canine links, and to find other breeders that we recommend. We breed for show quality dogs that are healthy, sound and are good family dogs. We have children of various ages so it is
important to us that our dogs are social and friendly with all age groups. We have begun involvement in Obedience and eventually hope to have some fun with Agility. Our dogs' health and happiness comes above all else.
We have puppies and adults occasionally
- this is not a business for us, it's a hobby. We breed our dogs for us, not for others. When we do have available dogs, we place them the same way one would adopt a child. Not only that, but we try our best to keep track of everyone to ensure their continued health and happiness. All information about the current status of available dogs from puppies to rescues will always be found in the News
section.
IMPORTANT: If you are interested in a Chihuahua from us [we are not currently breeding Papillons but hope to in the future], it is imperative that you read our Policy before contacting us - every question we get asked is already answered on this page. Finally, you must fill out our Application for us to be able to match the right dog to your home. We are breeder/handlers, which means we show our own dogs. A lot of people seem to think that a show dog or showing a
dog is something hard or requires special training. It's a sport that you just learn how to do. Both you and the dog. There are places all over which teach you how to show your dog, but it really just takes time. Our definition of "Show Quality" is a dog that will WIN in the ring, not just be qualified to enter a show. The term "Quality" is misleading because it really only applies as a
means of categorization. A "Pet Quality" dog is not necessarily deformed or unhealthy, etc. It simply means that it may not have enough of the ideal attributes a breeder feels necessary for their breeding program. Sometimes a dog becomes Pet Quality just because it hates to show!
